"Come down from that tree Naisola your grandma needs firewood!!" Mama Tula shouted at the top of her voice,"But Ma'I never get a chance to play why can't Nasieku do it? she said reluctantly coming down from the tree.A normal day in a normal life past Naisola a young Maasai girl went on with her normal life the only thing that was not normal in her life was her immense love for swimming Naisola would do anything and everything to have a swim in the river near their home.The day she was playing on the tree, the river was out of bounds because of a crocodile on the loose.
Naisola began swimming before she could even talk. Her mother who happened to be a third wife to Mr.Solantuii Pasha noticed the behaviour in her daughter and just dismissed it as normal child behaviour.As the years went by, her swimming talent could not go un-noticed. Naisola had a talent so real even a blind man could tell this girl loved swimming.Her body glide in the water as thoough she was a fish! She swimmed so swiftly and with alot of ease funny enough she never complained about fetching water no matter what time of the day it was.
After completing her primary school education, she moved on to secondary school there she learnt different swimming styles on top of the ones she already knew.She began competing in swimming competitions in and out of school.Everyone knew about her talent and her teachers urged her to keep up with the spirit.She won undefeated in was the second runners-up in the Nationals this was during her first year of high school.
At home she was always busy tending to the household chores she never had a chance to swim as she used to when she was young so when the chief and some officals arrived and asked to see her parents she was shocked! It later turned out shee had been chosen by the swimming commitee to swim for her country with national swimming team but she was a back-up just incase anything 'happened'Her parents knew that she could swim well and they were proud but the idea of didn't impress them one bit,"My daughter can swim there is no doubt about that your team members can also swim why not just recruit her in the team?I mean you just didn't come to my house to tell me you want her as back-up that is impossible! After negotiations the parents agreed that after adequate training she would join the team the following year because she was still young.She accompanied the team that year and they did not do well.............to be continued
