YES
I AM BLACK AND I’M PROUD!
I have a dream and I do not know about yours but mine are very
big and the sky is definitely the limit. You know growing up one has the
mind of a child one and lives freely without much of a care in this world.
Well for me reality checked and dawned on me just the other day and I
wondered what I really want to do besides my career .I insatneously knew
I definitely want to make Africa a better place. After a period of solitude
and deep soul-searching,Africa popped in my mind almost immediately. I
have mad love for the so called ‘Dark continent’ and I am
more than fed up not with the rest of the world but with us for always
blaming the world for not giving us the chance to exploit our unlimited
potential in every area. Africans have always been complaining! That is
totally understandable considering what Africans have gone through and
are still undergoing; the colonial period, post-colonial period and neo-colonialism
all this things happened and will still continue to happen to us because
we believe nobody can beat the ‘White guy’ this is a white
lie because it is a lie we desperately want to believe not because it
is true but because we are too lazy and unwilling to think otherwise!
God put something unique in every single being irrespective of their race
Africa is no exception! proof of this is God’s own words ‘Let
us make man in our own image and likeness” if you don’t believe
in God I can not say I respect that opinion rather I urge you to seriously
wake up! Smell the coffee and quit being ignorant!
My point therefore is all developed countries did not get there overnight
obviously they had to struggle and hustle just like you and me the only
difference between their goals and ours is that theirs are Original, Specific,
Realistic, Timebound and they are Achievable. Our goals are not any of
the above if anything most of our goals are either to mimic or out do
our Western friends. We depend on the same people to guide us there or
worse still we leave it all to them! That is where we are missing the
whole picture. You see while we are so busy trying to ‘Be Like’
we lose ourselves and are nowhere near them the key thing here is not
be like them; their lifestyles, their money, their way of doing things
to mention a few. That is theirs all their achievements, failures, glamour
everything it is what they have managed to do with their time, education
(discoveries and technology), money and resources from all over the world
.We are never going to sit back and reminisce on how far we have come
if we continue with the blaming game and come to think of it we do really
have what it takes Africa has beautiful resources some are still virgin
because no one has bothered to discover them. People are there to provide
labour and the insight needed but they die and waste away with undiscovered
talents and hobbies. This leads to people not resting in peace.Enough said
Africa needs to embrace whatever little it has and forge ahead letting
the minds of our young mature without any interference from outside and
the wisdom of our elderly guide us not only to preserve Africa but to
discover its wonderous treasures and the capability of a true African.Adios
everybody
.To be continued.............................................
